The CHD Health Support Initiative
The CHD Health Support Initiative (CHD HSPI) is a flagship program of the Centre for Human Development (CHD) dedicated to advancing health justice in Nigeria.
Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of Nigerians and legal residents, especially the poor and vulnerable. We promote sustainable Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3) through preventive, curative, and rehabilitative healthcare services, working toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for all.
Health, for us, is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being—not just the absence of disease. CHD HSPI is built on this holistic understanding of health and human dignity.
Our Program Goals
- Expand access to affordable, quality healthcare for poor and vulnerable Nigerians and legal residents.
- Reduce out-of-pocket health spending that pushes households deeper into poverty.
- Support policies and systems that move Nigeria closer to Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
- Ensure that cost, gender, location, or social status do not prevent people from receiving the care they need.
